Mercedes AMG GT Wins Red Dot Best of the Best

The prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best award has been bestowed on the Mercedes-AMG GT for outstanding design quality and groundbreaking styling in this year’s acclaimed “Red Dot”design competition which is celebrating its 60th anniversary. These awards are an internationally recognised seal of quality with close on 2000 manufacturers and designers from 56 countries entering a total of 4928 products. The 38-member jury aims to acknowledge the finest achievements in international product design.

The new Mercedes-AMG GT joins a high-caliber line-up in this newlight_weight_construction_mercedes_amg_gt_2 segment of the company as not only a sports but also a performance brand. We are pleased to see that the days of the authentic sports car are far from over with models such as this giving us something to salivate over. The distinctive styling and breathtaking proportions are not subdued by the powerfully shaped surfaces and not undermined by its flowing lines. With optimum weight distribution complimenting thoroughbred Motorsport technology it is no wonder this vehicle beat out its competitors as the purest expression of driving dynamics and all with fuel efficiency, yes fuel efficiency on the 4.0-Mercedes AMG GT Interiorliter twin-turbo V8 boasting a minimum of 455 horse power and an impressive 503 horse power on the Mercedes-AMG GT S. This sports car is setting the scene and raising the bar inside and out. The luxurious interior is not only stylish but has a slightly vintage aviation appeal to it.  Not only does this series boast power, speed and performance but at the first Grand Prix in Melbourne, Australia (12 to 15 March 2015) the Mercedes-AMG GT S debuted on the race track as the Official Safety Car of the FIA Formula One World Championship™.

“The gull-wing SLS AMG was my official car in Formula 1® for five years. Now I’m looking forward to the new Mercedes-AMG GT S, which I have been fortunate enough to get to know during its development phase. The new AMG sports car won me over immediately with its high-calibre race track performance.” ~ Bernd Mayländer, driver of the Official Safety Car of the FIA Formula One World Championship™ since 2000.

Mercedes will be collecting their coveted prize at the Red Dot Gala award ceremony which will take place on 29 June 2015 at the Aalto Theatre in the German city of Essen, and will, over and above the aware, boast a number of winner privileges including the Red Dot Winner Label.
